Valentine Craft

In case you do a craft for Valentine's Day, here is one easy 3-D card to make.

Materials

Scissors
Construction Paper (Red, Pink, White)
Heart-shaped Doilies (Red and White)
Measuring tape
Long roll of paper, any colour
Pencils
Stickers
White Glue
Popsicle sticks for glue

To prepare before

1) Cut out a number of hearts from pink, white and red construction paper so that there are a few more than the total number of participants anticipated.

2) Cut fairly long strips of paper, 1 - 2 inches wide, and two-three feet long. There should be one per participant.

If the children are really small, then you may wish to type out the card messages beforehand: "How much do I love you?" "So much!"

In the program

1) Once the children arrive at your program, have them decorate the outside of the card first. Glue the doily down first.

2) Then glue the construction heart in the centre.

3) Glue down the first part of the message.

4) Children can then trace their hands.

5) Fold a strip of paper accordion-style

6) Glue the hands to each end of the folded paper.

7) Attach one hand to the inside of the card.

8) Glue "This much!" inside the card. Once the card is dried, the children can pull on the hands, and measure their love for the person to whom they are giving the card.
